Mods

Post by -I3OOM- »

Hello,
I´m new in this game and I have some problems with Mods.
I have the version 3.1.1 and I´ve tried anything but i can´t use Mods. I tried a Mod-programm, tried it with "--Mod Name.wz" and I can´t find the config folder because I only have a config file and no folder...
Could it be that Mods only work on 2.x? And if it´s so, can I get my savefiles from 3.1.1 to 2.x or would I have to start all over? :(
And also I want to know what the differences between 2.x and 3.x are... I can´t find them apart from Bug fixes and a few mor options...

What's written (and linked from FAQ) is 'the config folder', not 'the "config" folder':
The name and location of the config folder is different on different systems
The 'm' in --mod is not capital.

It's the same on 2.x and 3.x.

No, you cannot convert 3.x savegames to 2.x savegames (even compatibility between 3.1.1 savegames to 3.1.0 savegames is not guaranteed).

You also need to use '=' after command line keys, as written (and linked from FAQ).

Its ok
-I3OOM- wrote:There is no Mod folder... :/
Create one
make a folder and call it mods
Inside that folder create the folders
----Flags-------------------Description------------------folders----------
--mod=mod Enable a global mod global
--mod_ca=mod Enable a campaign only mod campaign
--mod_mp=mod Enable a multiplay only mod multiplay

You can create the autoload folder but if you forget you have a mod in it there can be all sorts of issues.
There is a few mod loader programs floating about the forum but they too are not easy to understand if you dont read directions.

Okey, thanks, that works.
But only one more question.
Couldn´t I use a mod in a campaign save state? Do I have to play the campaign all over to use the Mod in the campaign? :(

Not sure if it works, but you can try to mess up your gameinfo.ini in the savegame's folder:

Code: Select all

mods=camtime31.wz
or something like that. Depending on the mod, you never know when (on reloading what) exactly it will get applied though.
