C&C .MAP -> Wz2100 map format converter?

Well, I was wondering if one existed...and if it could be made if it did not.

What I mean is, is it possible to take a .map from C&C Generals(ZH) and convert it to a WZ2100 format and tile set?

I doubt one does exsist.

As for formats... Has anyone in the C&C community actually figured out how that map format works? Haven't played C&C since RA2 and even then they only used 2D maps. In any event, even if it was possible I don't see anyone from either community wanting to bother putting in the time to create a converter in either direction.

Well, more recent C&Cs use a 3D map style, and I think some people worked out the inner coding of C&C :TW maps, as there is a fanmade map editor for it.

I think its easier to recreat a map, than make a converters or so.

A terrain converter shouldn't be hard.
The real question is how much a map would make sense within a different game balance.

Good point.
C&C =/= Wz2100...
Pehaps this IS a bad idea...

Or one could build the map in FlaME using the original C&C map as a reference in another window. ;)

Well, at least getting a heightmap as PNG or BMP file from a documented map format doesn't sound too hard.
P.S. Just for the reference: here's starcraft1 map format specification, not quite finished in the part we're interested in.
