About ingame, these are, in fact, the ingame models. The shading is, however, much more advanced, although it is fully doable with opengl 2.0 shaders (dynamic lighting, normal and specular maps, SSAO filter), so it could indeed look like this ingame in the future

I made a 1024x1024 png version with added displacement to the ground

i must know the texture from what software.....

Blender+GIMP only. Ground texture downloaded from cgtextures.com (no license problems with those). Procedural camouflage with blender. Everything else is hand painted/modeled from scratch. (no easy way I'm afraid). Oh and python texture was originally made by olrox
