The current .pies for the AA FlaK Cannon are gnmair2 and trmair2.
Those are to be changed back to gnhair and trhair and the whole weapon should be rebalanced accordingly. If we want to leave it as a cannon related AA weapon, feel free to do so. Not sure if the AA FlaK Cannon is upgraded via cannon upgrades anyway. Also, turn on your PMs

While we could change the current model back to the old, the problem we have with adding it back is just how to re-balance it, and get it right in one shot, since this is the next release will be 3.1.1 (final).

Thus, I think it is best to change & add it back to master, so we would have that for 3.2 (or whatever it will be called)...and then balance it the correct way.

Because the AA FlaK cannon, as it currently stands, hardly ever gets used. For a comparison, the Hurricane has a DPM of 7k fully upgraded against the barely 2k of a fully upgraded FlaK Cannon. It doesn't have any advantage over the Hurricane, as it gets outdamaged and outranged by it.
FlaK weapons don't need and aren't supposed to have high alpha strike but high DPM.

AA Flak cannon is AA weapon to use in case when you cannot research another AA.
AA Flak cannon receives ALL upgrades from cannon line.

Big disadvantage of AA Flak cannon is short range. Range is main parameter of AA because you need less AA sites if they all have long range.

Hurricane and Whirlwind require additional power to research and additional "cell" in research facility. In some games you cannot research upgrades for Hurricane and Whirlwind and in this kind of games you can use AA Flak Cannon instead.
If you selected cannon as your weapon then you receive good upgraded AA Flak cannon automatically and free

There is problem with VTOL weapons. 70% of VTOL weapons are useless and only few VTOL weapons are good and may be slightly overpowered.
AA Flak cannon can protect your base from VTOL Cannon or VTOL machineguns... but to be being protected from Thermite and Heap Biombs you need Whirlwind AA with good upgrades.

Then I see no problem to give the cannon line an AA weapon that can somehow compete with at least the Hurricane DPM-wise when fully upgraded.
