I followed the instructions to play the game in full screen by making a shortcut with the target:
"C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --mod grim.wz --fullscreen --viewport 1280x1024
I toggled shadows off (alt+s) and the game is still a slideshow.
Is openGL is going to software fallback mode?
My specs are as follows:
XP professional SP1 (just reinstalled windows)
gig RAM
2.8 GHz P4
Radeon 9700 128 meg
Any suggestions?
Not sure why this is slow.

yes... install service pack 2.
"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.

Hmmm... Does SP2 really help? I wonder why...
What could be a cause is the Radeon card. WZ is known to run terribly bad on Radeon cards for a yet unknown reason. (Certainly not because of the high quality graphics.)

Not sure if this helps but it runs great on my windows PC and I have a Radeon 9600... its close to 9700 lol. BTW even if it doesn't help with WZ, there are very few reasons to not run SP2.
