Portable warzone?

Post by iap »

Hi. I've downloaded warzone and "installed" it in my portable Hard Drive. I've found the dete files (saved games and stuff) in the computer's "documents and settings" folder.
Is there a way to copy the data files to the external HD and use them?
Want to say that most of the time i'm not on the same computer, so it would be a big issue for me.

The command
warzone2100 --help
is your friend. Of particular interest are the --datadir and --configdir options.

Sorry, it does nothing:
F:\programs\games\Warzone 2100>warzone2100 --help

F:\programs\games\Warzone 2100>warzone2100 help

F:\programs\games\Warzone 2100>warzone2100 --datadir "f:\programs\games\Warzone
2100\data\"

F:\programs\games\Warzone 2100>

that's my link and it works fine
"D:\_Games\GPL\WarZone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --configdir "."
so everything is saved and loaded into the root-folder of warzone...

Thank you for your help, but it doesn't work.
I don't understand it, I did exactly what you wrote, for --help and -- configdir it ignored but for --datadir it played the game.

I copied all the files to a "data" dir under warzone folder deleted (well actually renamed) the folder in "my documents".
After running the game with costume --datadir and --configdir, the game started with the default settings, no saved game, and apperantly, it created his data folder in "my documents" from scratch.

Pleas aid me...

OK Yes!

With "." it works. with ".\data" it doesn't.

Thank you very much. Warzone2100 is one of the best RTS! :D

I saw a portable Warzone 2100 on SourceForge. You might want to check it out.

Search this forum for "Warzone 2100 Portable" it requires some text editing but the readme tells how to do that.
In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

O_oWhat are you guys talking about? What Thyranim posted works just fine.

I use "d:\games\warzone2100\warzone2100.exe" --configdir .\prefs
Log:
* Add a command line option "--configdir" which enables the user to select
another configuration directory than the default ~/.warzone2100-2.1
* This directory currently __needs__ to exist already!
You must create .\prefs (in my case) , D:\games\warzone2100\prefs ) first, before you launch the above command on the command line or shortcut.
This is a waste of space. Something important should be here.

But with the launchers mentioned you only need to set it up once, then you can just run the launcher, no command line required.

I like to have my saves in a different directory, but if you don't mind just use a shortcut, that works too I guess.
