Game crashes after 40-60min
Re: Game crashes after 40-60min
I ran all 3 tests you suggested and I had no errors and no overheating.
I updated my video drivers again last night as well.
Where do I go from here?
Thanks for the help.

Nice to hear you have a stable system.Rellik420 wrote:I ran all 3 tests you suggested and I had no errors and no overheating.

Which driver version are you using ? I am using 182.52, but this is on XP, and I don't have any issues with them.
and it ends here.
Re: Game crashes after 40-60min
I am using 185.85 vista drivers
Re: Game crashes after 40-60min
You feel like going back a few revisions, and seeing if those work better for you?Rellik420 wrote:I am using 185.85 vista drivers
We are using pretty standard openGL calls, nothing that should make the driver crash on you...
and it ends here.
Re: Game crashes after 40-60min
Why do not believe me, that it is related to using 4GB RAM on 32bit OS?
Windows 7 RC / Athlon 64 X2 / NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Re: Game crashes after 40-60min
I never said I don't believe you. I know there is a limit for the 32bit OS, and having 4GB RAM + 512MB Vidcard is a issue...Kaldera wrote:Why do not believe me, that it is related to using 4GB RAM on 32bit OS?

Re: Game crashes after 40-60min
I played a game yesterday for over 6 hrs and no crash.
I do believe the memory issue.
Is there a way to limit the memory my system will use to offset this issue? :-S
I read that Windows Vista will post the 4gb of ram but actually will only use 3.5 of it, so I didn't think it really was an issue.
I am running the RAM in dual channel mode.
I appreciate the help
My RAM is in 2 2gb sticks. MB only has 2 slots for RAM.
Kinda pointless to upgrade to a 64 bit OS with the limitations on my MB for RAM.

Only by changing one RAM modul.Rellik420 wrote:Is there a way to limit the memory my system will use to offset this issue?
It is not. 64bit OSes do not need much more RAM than 32bit, as long as there are not all applications in 64bit code. Win XP 64 rans well on 1 GB RAM, Windows 7 too. Your MB is limited to 4GB, this will last the next few years, more than ever for WZ.Rellik420 wrote:Kinda pointless to upgrade to a 64 bit OS with the limitations on my MB for RAM.
A 64bit OS (theoretically) can use up to 2147483648 GigaByte (2 ExaByte) of RAM, so there is actually no limit by 64bit OS regardless wether RAM or GraphicsRAM.
The download of 64bit Windows 7 is larger because most apps are in there twice in 32bit and 64bit (also in xp64 and vista64). So that does not mean all 64bit applications are much bigger than 32bit. In some cases 64bit apps can also be smaller, especially if they are calculating huge numbers. (f.e. video encoding, encrypting)
Your Athlon X2 supports 64bit so you should give it a try. Also there are far less problems in windows 7 compared to vista. I run all my applications and games without compatibility mode, will try some win95 apps if i find them on the attic.
