If you can halt payment it would be good also report the web site to your local authorities maybe they can help

Yeah could you tell us the site where you paid for it? even sites like dotemu and zoom (which carry an older version of the game) have it for free.

I suggest you go get a refund of the game, not only is that version old, it is also unsupported.

The GPL explicitly allows selling software under it, as long as the source is included (or a written offer to provide it or whatever the other anachronistic options are). It is pretty deceptive though to not indicate that what you're selling is not the actual product, but the service of providing it on a physical medium (in this case).

Looks like this http://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_wa ... 86590.html is what you bought. If you can get a refund you should do so, and tell them why you're returning it.

Sorry that i'm not helpful, but it may help to ask them to deliver the source code as well, as per license (did they even include the license?).
Also, ouch, MediaMarkt is a respected thingy, not your random anonymous seller. Kinda shocked.
