Looks to me like a classic GPU artefact. These are normally caused by overclocking and overheating.

Like mentionned before, it could be because of overheating or driver problem.
You can often check the temperature of your video card through the driver utility panel.

Artefacts like that also appear when the card is having problem (broken).
But update the drivers first and check the temperature of the card.
If you can't check the temperature, you could at least dust out the ventilations.

And normally, you should provide some more informations.
OS, GPU, CPU, Drivers.

That looks exactly like what happened when my old video card died (after 7 years to boot, it lasted a while).
