For the most part, we recommend FlaME for editing maps, precisely because it doesn't have those problems: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4630

Well, your research clearly didn't uncover FlaME. ;)

you can find a tutorial here:

http://members.shaw.ca/kgmetcalfe3/Worl ... w_map.html

also : clicking the SD button will give you the directory reference box back.

ok so i'v made a map using flaMe, but i'm having trouble playing it. i'v complied the map, i'v put it in the correct place,

C:\Documents and Settings\a user\My Documents\Warzone 2100 2.3\maps.

same place as all downloaded maps, its also a .exe file, again same as all downloaded maps.
i'm sorry for the little information given, but this is the map i'v made.
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/a%20user/My%20Documents/Warzone%202100%202.3/maps/2c-Hill%20Side!.zip
you should able to download that, if some one could download that and try to play it that would be great. and if possible tell me what i need to do, to be able to play the map. many many thanks
ps any feedback on the map i'v made would be most appreciated.

That belongs to flaME topic since it's about flaME 8)
The map must be in .wz format and you can't use many symbols. Also try to avoid using spaces, use only letters and underlines to be sure.

olrox....do not go by what appears there - the %20 is just a freaking filler (windows dont ya know).... and for us to get that file he would have to upload it using the upload feature of the forums software and not just placing a link from his hard drive...(dont work that way...). ok?? :)

Erm, all downloaded maps are .wz files...

Actually, no, we can't download that - that's an address on your computer - only you can access it (unless you want us to hack into your computer or something). If you want to show us your map, use the "Upload attachment" button.

Well, Olrox may have been referring to the "!", which could possibly cause problems (though I think the code allows them at this point).

1) duh... :D

2) this is what i was trying to point out to olrox - and only this. :D

3) i missed that due to all the rest of the extraneous items... oh well. :lol2:

4) if it appears i was trying to be mean and nasty -nope - furthest thing from my mind. :3 just trying to give knowledge ... about billy's little os and his statement about 16 k was all we would ever need, which is why we have all these little "features" now.

No excuses, lav, you've hurt my feelings :lol2:
Yeah, I forgot to mention that he copied+pasted the path of his file instead of attaching it. I indeed meant the "!" in the end: Also, the space from the name should be removed, resulting in "2c-Hill_Side" or simply "2c-Hillside".

The "Upload attachment" tab is just below the "post reply" screen - the "Options" tab is selected by default when you go post a reply

Anyway, when you're going to save your map so you can play it, you should choose "compile map" instead of saving it and then renaming. I don't know if you already knew that, but just in case 8)

A great fix for this problem:
Use flaME.

I currently do use flame, but I wanted to also give this a try. Plus I also excitedly await a better release of flaME for mac. By that I mean not having to launch from Terminal and without the two bugs it currently has.
