Artwork Showcase

Post by aubergine »

Hi All,

I've spent the last week or so putting together a compilation of Warzone artwork - from concept sketches to 3D models to FMV stills.

You can find it here: Artwork Galleries

I'd love to get some of the ArtRev 3D scenes in a gallery - is that possible? (PM me with details pls)

Also, I've been wading through topics in this forum (models by Berg/Jorzi in particular) pulling out images for a 3D Models gallery and hope that's ok (if not, let me know).

Hope you like!

I'm totally cool with this :)
Should probably mention that the python was a hipoly remake of the design by MaNGusT and Olrox.
Also some of the models (sensor, twin mg, trike, heavy mg) are based on concepts by Corporal Punishment.

Thanks, glad you like it :)

I've updated the captions to add in the additional contributors.

Just to remind, for similar reasons I've started working on WMIT, with idea to have automated generator (using script to generate screenshots and put them into larger image with descriptions) for sheet comparing side by side current look of models with current status of ArtRev efforts. ;-)

If you can make it spit out 200x110 px images as well that will be perfect for my gallery.

BTW, the wiki I use has full API - maybe some way to connect the two (probably overkill though!).

I really love the whitish images on blue background look - how is this effect created?

IMHO, that sort of effect would make for a wonderful UI to my planned documentation about all propulsions, bodies, turrets and structures...

aubergine, it could scale and crop them using ImageMagick (as it most probably will be Python script), but currently I have some thesis to finish so probably there will be no progress in coming days...

And AFAIK that effect comes from lack of final texture.

@aubergine: that is the baked ambient occlusion map on the default blender 2.49 background.
In my texturing workflow I usually multiply the ao texture over my colors, giving some fairly nice shading even in the unshaded mode.

Anyone know who created the images on this page - I've worked out that cathuria did some of them (after like 12 hours searching through the forums!) but no idea who did the rest (some look like ArtRev?)...

The image of the hover-flamer-bug tanks, where made by Jorzi and the image of the python-tracks-heavy mortar was made by Jorzi too:

Thank you Giani!

That's got captions on them all now, except the end credits screen.

.

I think that's a very early concept piece by Nick Cook. As were the others in full color still up at the Official Pumpkin site hosted by Strategy Planet. Last I heard Nick had partnered to form a small company that specialized in deving mobile apps.

Also- when the source was originally released it included a FVM sequence that never made it into the CAM. As I recall it was nothing really special, other than historical value.

Here is Nick's game bio: http://www.mobygames.com/developer/shee ... erId,1543/

And his current web site: http://nick-cook.net/

He may still have some of his early WZ art around, Aubergine - should introduce yourself and ask him. ;)
