A simple 2 frame animation that runs in 3.1beta7 just shows the code is there to animate base structures. It is a simple flashing light over door its oscillation is slow.
Its in a simple mod too just drop it into autoload folder to see it ingame.

Good enough for beginning but, as for me, I prefer frame-based texture animation, like gif animanition works. :)

Current texture animation has no future, imho.
Why do you say there is no future whit animations?

Nice animation Berg!

I was wondering, is there any way to remove the building's base? I always imagined that buildings would look better when placed on the map if they didn't have the concrete base under them...?

you can but that is not my idea of improve you only need to go into textures find the warzone2100-3.1_beta10/data/base/texpages and remove all set it to have only aplha showing so no colours in the textures.
there are 6 texture page-8 and page-9 change the base texture to alpha good luck with that...

I tried removing the base at some point in the past, and IMHO it did not look so good.

Rather than removing completely, what about just making it less square shaped? Eg, have a dirt track coming from doorways, and some smaller paved areas?

Not 100% sure, but I guess it's simply a matter of repainting the bases with some alpha transparency.
If that doesn't work, the bases are just .pie files and can be modeled to any shape.

Does it look better at higher fps? I like the way it looks, just not the jerkiness of it. Overall 4 thumbs up :D Hope you can make it look more natural :)

If you see it natural it looks excellent the frame rate is conflicted with the capture and the game fps so its jerky.
If you scroll back back back take a time machine to the start of this thread it all started in wzgm now its comming to a wz code near you see it soon in real life up close and dangerous....
Its in git master atm.
