Dude.... use 3ds max and you will not have such problems.Jorzi wrote:I guess I'm just lazy, normal maps require me to do a light setup, and since every model is a separate file, I have to redo it for all models.

No, i have used 3ds max before - it is really good (I wish i still had it) but blender is the best of open source and you get what you pay for

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Hey jorzi it seems that you dont know about prepared default scenes.
Create your window layout,
create your material palette,
make your light setup
Maybe you create one layer with information for directions ingame. (That you know in wich direction your model looks if it is exported into the game).
After you customized blender for your modelling needs press Ctrl + U to save it as userdefault.
Everytime you create a new .blend file it will be like you prepared this scene.
You can also have modelsin your scene, they will be load too.
If you want to use Image-Textures you need to pack them into the blendfile.
I hope this helps.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Thanks, I did know about the ctrl+u feature, I just haven't got into making a nice default setup.
@Mangust I simply had to say it because there is a general hostility towards 3dsmax in the blender community. In reality though, you use whatever you feel good with, only results matter.
For me, blender, while not having all the features, does the important stuff really fast (it also has more than enough features to make game models) and since I've used it for over 4 years, changing the program no longer makes sense...

About the sensor turret - just noticed..... don't forget to put the metal texture layer on top and use multiply

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Jorzi, I think that BB model is completed, I like it.
On the other hand, we use different methods when draw textures and in result we will have models which look a bit different. It will look weird, like we mix models from different games)).
The possible solution is that one of us will "remaster" all the textures when they will be finished.
There is no need to apply this texture. BB looks cool without it. Jorzi has his own method to get a model looks as it was "used".macuser wrote:this one http://artrev2100.sourceforge.net/forum ... tiply#p302

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
this is aimed more at the people in AR but, have you solved that issue with the mortars umm... exploding right on the structure? i mean they blow up without doing any "good" damage. they just hurt the structure itself...
I'm not always on but when I am you know it.
Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I have thought of this too, remastering would inddeed be necessary to make things look consistent. That's partly why I upload my flat colour maps and ao maps as separate files on sourceforge. I tried multiplying in the scratched metal texture as a subtle layer on a few of my textures and it didn't look too bad, although I usually hand paint all the scratches using my wacom tablet.MaNGusT wrote: On the other hand, we use different methods when draw textures and in result we will have models which look a bit different. @Mr_E: Unfortunately we don't do coding, we are just artists so we can only make them look better while destroyng themselves
