Can't Understand Controls For Blender?

I mean i'm trying to make a model but then i don't really know the controls to clay the model?
I mean this is really advanced for me...

I was very familar with several different 3D modeling and rendering packages including RayStart for the Atari ST, NeoN Grafix for the Atari Falcon030 and trueSpace 4.2 for Windows. I had a look into Blender for the Mac and I was confused too.
