Since WZ is open source though I see no reason why SSAO, HDR, etc can't be programmed into the game anyway. The main problem using some of the more advances features of DX or OGL is going to be the current graphics (models/textures) and the end users hardware. Frankly I see no real benefit to an open source project from the above anyway. As far as I can tell it is more of an add-on for commercial games where no source code is available to upgrade the graphics to use more advanced features.
