VTOL and the rearming pad

Post by CinC »

I have a minor improvement idea: If i produce in the present a VTOL, the VTOL flies to the delivery point. Then i have to set manually a place on the rearming pad. When i don't set an manually pad, there is always chaos after an attack. They will land wherever they want. And in the most cases they displace an already landed VTOL from its place. (especially with multiple groups)

In the difference to the ground units VTOLs have to fly anyway to the pad. I guess it would be better if new VTOLs became automatic assigned to a free pad. And after an attack it flies directly to the same pad back. The factory delivery point could be used to control which group of pads should be used.

...That... doesn't make a difference. VTOLs don't "remember" their pads after they leave them. o_O And they only displace VTOLs that are already rearmed to max.

How about the displaced vtols fly to the HQ, often they mix with damage ones making you have to pick through and get the good ones out.

When I play I have some repair droids wandering the fields of VTOLs to fix up the damaged ones while they wait for a rearming pad.

Especially the Void between the ears of people who think that No VTOL is a good idea, and won't lead to arty wars. I've won one, and I have to say: I hated it.

I build my rearming pads next to repair facilities (3 along each side, not the corners), now that repair facilities auto target, it works great. It dramatically speeds up repair time, so damaged vtols don't take up as much time on the rearming pad.
It would be nice if they would fly to repair facilities when rearmed but not repaired.
One vtol sitting on the pad repairing but not rearming, while another vtol sits in perfect condition, with no ammo, is annoying.
So I find if I have space, the vtols pads ringing repair facilities works great - until I need more pads than I can build repair facilities for.
Then I build pads outside the repair facility range, and may wish to micro my damaged vtols to the pads next to the repair stations.
Most of the time, odds are the damaged vtols pick a pad next to a repair facility anyway.
