Keep Formation
Keep Formation
Allow units to keep formation in a group they are placed in. Like Red Alert 2 where if you place units in any shape and you move them, the shape will retain. You could place units in a square and they will drive in that square and retain the shape at the destination.
Re: Keep Formation
Military units basically move in two formations:
Column (follow the leader) when travelling
Line Abreast (side by side) when fighting
A formation requires some sort of reference point. This could be the leader/commander of a group, or a designated point or centroid of the formation.
Currently, in WZ, you can group units together, but they are basically an undefined mass. IF the group had an actual physical marker for the center of the group, you could use this as a reference point for creating formations. It could also serve as a return point for units that had to retreat due to damage but have been repaired, similar to how repaired units return to their assigned commander.

Re: Keep Formation
I still like my old idea of being able to draw a line and have the group space themselves along it. If you could do that shortly before telling them to advance on a target it would be not quite the same but a good step towards it.
