Right now, flamers have limited range and cannot accurately battle VTOLs. Currently, artilleries miss VTOLs.

There should be more electromagnetic pulse magnets in Warzone 2100 that pull the enemy closer and towards the ground. Together, artillery units and/or flamer units can attack effectively with the magnet units (even against VTOLs).

A magnet turret and a magnet tower should exist to balance the game. Every magnet should have at least a medium attraction proximity.

Any opponents next to a magnet tower are unable to move away until the tower is destroyed. Vehicles that have a magnet turret may pull multiple enemies that are within its range.

From the physics point of view. Your suggestion is crazy. If you can attract a tank sized flying vehicle with a magnet, you can also send a projectile of same weight at it. You built your rail gun WAY too big and plugged the the wires upside down lol.

From gameplay perspective, the flamers can't hit target at long range. It's not a flaw it's intentional. There is nothing to "fix" here.

From a modding point of view. We could make a plasma thrower which could hit air units directly. Either bursting it when it come too close in a huge flame jet or either allowing it to shoot farther away like a laser except it accept the flamers upgrade instead and set units in fire. If it was needed. But it's not. If you built only flamers and mortars you have exploitable weaknesses.

I think this is a good idea in the respect that it is almost already in the game. Think about the EMP turrets that dont work right if they did they would be used more.
I dont think they work on vtol but if they did it would be magic.

Electromagnetic pulses already exist in Warzone 2100. The magnets use at least one EMP to attract.

Instead of magnets or unit sucking towers/turrets(which is ridiculous), lets use something more realistic. Right now I am thinking that magnets are either totally useless(send one cyborg and the army goes past it) or magnets will be too op. So here are my alternate suggestions.

Oh by the way, why can't early vtol have multiple slots(omni-directional mg tower + heap bombs)? Do we need a 2nd flying transportation device(helicopters or fat-in-cash bombers)?

1)Air Mines. A very heavy mine laying weapon that will reduce the speed of an vtol. However, like a truck you can build mines in the air. Weak emp mines, flak mines, force shutdown mines or HE mines. Furthermore for balance, mines will cost as much as your average mg tower or even more, but the construction time is practically instant. Cool idea right?

2)Corrosive smog? A vtol sprays a smog that slow/damage vtols. However it also reduces the effectiveness of MG AA turrets, but the smog corrodes bullets. What I was thinking here was a flamer like weapon in mid-air that can represent flamers, but not be flamers. In addition, the smog could be activated to cover friendly vtols(especially if you have anti-smog coating). Oh crap! Maybe we could even have acid-smog bombs to create corrosive wasteland on the battlefield. OR EVEN....dies of mental disorder.

3)AA Laser Grid towers. A tall tower that can create grid of lasers if nearby another tower. Maybe a nitrogen tower that releases below -50 C air causing friendly fire damage too. Too many ideas. :lol2:

What about an EMP flak cannon, causing the vtols to fall to the ground, making them vulnerable? That said, It's not like we don't already have very powerful AA, so any new stuff will require rebalancing so that VTOLs won't become useless.

something like this would be good, a smoke grenade could be done by a cyborg which can give some defensive bonus reducing chance of being hit by opponent shots. or a smoke bomb by vtol better actually, rearm drop 1 bomb etc

joking note - why not a superweapon nuke?.. just blow up everything in the map...BOOM
