I dont understand what is the use of a twin assault gun . As in, even a hpv does better than that! does it have any strategic advantage over other guns? and why does it appear late in the game??

the TAG is greatly supperior to the AG. It's the latest of the MACHINE GUN serie and so if you have upgraded your machine guns accordingly, it have an excellent timing between 25 and 35 minutes. I dont know how you made your test to determine what is stronger then what but you are wrong ^^.

Maybe the TAG was not researched correctly ? Or you did you test very late in game ? Or else maybe you tried agaisnt tracks or wall (that all anti-personal weapons hate) ?

Twin assault gun, and pretty much all machineguns, aren't very good at killing tracks and defensive structures. They are great for killing wheels and cyborgs, and mediocre on halftracks.

Hmmm! Ok.. Here is how i experimented this..(debug menu usd to place custom units) I placed ten python tracks hpv on my side.. And gave the ai ten pyth. Tracks tag and allowed them to fight.. This was after fully upgrading the cannon.. This was repeated ten times.. 6 times hpv won.. 3 times tag.. Only one occasion where one tank on both sides remained in the end 98pc damagd and by some chance thehpvs fire hit first and it won.. I would take this as a draw! Note: i did not control the hpv tanks while they were firing..

@bendib: ya. I noticed that.. I thought tag would be super effective in defending bottle neck areas of the terrain.. Like the spartan in 300! It has high rof too.. And decent accuracy... Though i ve never done this before!

You test is totally unfair then.
1) the cannon upgrade go farther.
2) You us heavy body (hiher armor)
3) You use tracks
4) TAG cost 100$. HVC cost 175$. running the test with the same amount isn't fair.

Try 10 TAG scorpion on wheel vs 9 hvc scorpion on wheel and stop freeze the cannon research when you get TAG.

i tried wat you said! Tag is powerful indeed.. But i also did this.. I used a twin assault cannon instead of tag.. It was far too powerful for even heavy cannon python tracks..

TAC fails against TAG most of the time because it has lower range, higher weight and higher cost.

but i used tac versus heavy cannon.. The former won!
