> Sorry for the delay:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Their last unit is has been destroyed sir. - reported a soldier over commlink.
- That's enough! How goes our power supplies?
- Twelve hundred ready to use and another fifteen on reserve, sir. - said the soldier.
- Very well, I want rocket and cannon Lances and support Spears ready ASAP. I'm leading a S&D force due their base. I'm tired of listening to this red alert sound. - Luke pressed a few buttons on his commlink - Prep my Commander Lance for departure. - then another set of buttons - Cyborg factory 1, you are assigned to my unit. Start production on jet cyborgs and deploy them immediately.
Luke proceeded to the garage, where he was given his pilot suit, which had its own emergency oxygen tank, in case the Orange was used. He got on his command tank, and drove it outside, where a couple jet cyborgs were already waiting to escort him to the forward extraction base.
There, he was joined by roughly 10 tanks and a couple more cyborgs that were already there. The tactical map Luke sent to the other tanks showed a delta formation with the Sabre assist units behind, and the cannon tanks ahead. While going through canyons the formation squeezed, while making the assist units vulnerable, so the jet cyborgs flew up the canyon borders and patrolled the high ground.
When they reached an open area, the enemy base was visible. Surrounded by mettalic walls and hardpoints with green spotlights. Luke also saw the smoke column the factories expelled. He used the enhanced viewscreen on his tank to mark priority targets. One of them was what looked a research facility. He ordered the two artillery tanks to stay put as he advanced towards the base. The jet cyborgs followed the tanks with some distance. As Luke got near the base, he was welcomed with howitzer shells, making him and the rest of his squad push their tanks' engines to the limit to reach the base with minimal damage. As they got near, the research facility sent a flare upwards, which shined a bright red warning colour.
Luke's squad approached the base, and after receiving a "Fire at Will - Retreat at Heavy" order, unleashed a shower of medium rockets and cannon shells. When the enemy units were driven out of the base to intercept Omega force, Omega's jet cyborgs flew low behind the enemy forces and attacked from behind, using EMP shells, rendering their support units unusable, for some time. With that move, Luke got rid of the enemy's heavy tanks, and ordered the artillery tanks to shell the enemy's base with extreme prejudice. With the base under siege and Luke's squad at roughly 80% integrity, the remaining enemy tanks ran back to the base, advancing onto the cyborgs, which couldn't engage their jet system fast enough and were caught on the blast of the self destructing tanks.
Half of the jet cyborg squad was lost, and another third incapacitated.
Luke's squad approached the research facility, while the artillery kept bombing the factories. They parked their tanks beside the facility, armed themselves with automatic rifles and breached the outer doors.
Some Coalition soldiers were expecting them, and fired upon them. Luke, who was using an automatic shotgun, provided covering fire while the lieutenants shot soldier after soldier down.
With a single injured man, and another liutenant left behind to take care of him, the rest of the squad proceeded into the facility. Encountering light resistance, mainly composed of technicians equipped with light arms and scientists using pre-collapse pistols. After taking no prisoners, a light transport arrived from Omega's carrying field medics, engineers and technichians. Treating the injured soldiers, scavenging the destroyed factories, barracks and hangars, and breaking into the facility's computers Luke found some information, before the local mainframe was remotely fried by Coalition's technicians.
Apparently, the Coalition was a group of nomadic scavengers that collected enough technology to raise themselves above the rest of the local groups. They were part of a bigger military force called The Core, that relayed orders on where to explore, and who to conquer, as well providing technologies from the new millenium. Most surely, it was NEXUS.

– "Major Research Completed". – said Luke's Commlink automated message. Luke then hopped on board his command tank and went to the recently erected forward HQ. It looked like a reduced version of Omega's headquarters' building, providing a command relay point, as well direct contact with Omega's information net.
On the main office, Luke accessed the research facilities reports. They had found two technologies on the enemy's base. One consisted of a Pre-Collapse flare launched from a standard mortar cannon. However, it had been enhanced to brightly lighten up the area surrounding its launch point, making it useful to improve dark battlezones. The other technology was an improvement from the supercrete walls. It consisted on a metallic frame with supercrete around it, topped with a high density alloy plating coverage, enhancing its defence against exploding and piercing rounds. Luke immediately ordered all walls to be reconstructed with the new technology.
The technicians also found maps with further info on Coalition's forces and bases, including a bigger base, where it seemed to be their main base. However, they also found out that they had a "defence field" in place around their base. No further information about it was found, other than the defence field only allowed traffic through certain bases, which were surely heavily guarded.
Before they could assault those bases, more information about that defence field should be looked into. The maps pointed three important targets Luke set as Omega's hit-list. A research base, where they were bound to find information about the defence field; a main factory base, where most of their tanks and resources were coming from; and what looked like a big oil extraction base. Luke ordered high tech tanks to be produced ASAP. He also ordered the construction of another VTOL factory and production of high-speed STOLs, to be used as bombers.
Luke would be leading the attack himself, heading a force comprised of EMP units, light artillery, anti-tank rockets, cannons and assault guns, cyborgs and a couple field engineers. He assigned three wings of plasmite STOL bombers. The trip due east would take about 20 hours, so he left a lieutenant commander in charge of Omega's defence, while the attack force was out.

While they advanced due east, they encountered more and more Coalition's forward bases, as well some minor warring clans associated with The Core. Although no new technology was found on any base, Luke managed to get used to the Coalition's tactics. He ordered new bodies to be modified with anti-explosion armor plating, to give more fleeing chances from suicidal attacks - situation on how most of their battles ended. Luke always kept the tanks up-to-date, recycling all the old tanks, and providing training sessions for the more experienced pilots and higher ranks.

Eventually, they found their way to the oil extracting base. Luke ordered a couple unnarmed STOL's to scout the area from high altitudes, hoping radars wouldn't detect them. Unfortunately, as soon as the STOLs flew past by the base's HQ, the red flare was sent upwards, as the STOLs returned back for refuelling and arming. Although Luke wanted to attack as soon as possible, he was counting on previous scouting to prepare his forces. However, that preparation costed him the element of surprise, which meant the base would be very well defended, with possible reinforcements coming by.

- Assault squad. Check in - said Luke via CommLink.
- Assault Em Gee's standing by.
- Eitch Pee Vee's standing by.
- Rockets standing by.
- Sir, we have an issue with the artillery systems. We can't lock on the targets. Attempting to fix the issue.
- Proceed lieutenant. We'll go on without you. Check in when ready, ASAP. All tanks, charge. I repeat, charge.

As Luke said those words, the assault force proceeded towards the base. As they got closer, they were taken by surprise by hidden bunkers. They were placed underground, and as the assault force passed by, strong corkscrews raised the whole bunker structure, revealing their weapons, mainly consisted of plasmite flamers. Although Omega's tanks were relatively resistant to fire, the heat compromised some of the tanks' systems. Cyborg engineers were tasked of extinguishing the fires as possible using a special foam to put down fires. On top of that, the Coalition fired howitzers and artillery ripple rockets over Omega's causing them to dispersate. While dispersed, they still advanced, closer and closer to the main gates. The tanks' anti-explosion plating held pretty well the suicidal tanks, which allowed Omega to get close enough for a HPV tank to scan the base's interior. Initial scans showed VTOLs armed with an unknown bomb bay. As Omega's artillery finally started firing, the VTOLs launched.

- Brace for armor piercing impact! - shouted a lieutenant. However, the VTOLs did not launch explosive bombs, nor flaming bombs. Rather oddly, the bombs just exploded a few feet above Omega's tanks. To Luke's dismay, the explosions were gray, like a fine dust or a mild fog.
- Orange! Orange! Orange! All tanks! Secure hatches and initiate air recyling systems! - ordered Luke over CommLink. However, some of the tanks that were hit by fire had their air supply and security damaged, allowing the Orange to penetrate the tanks' cockpits. Over the CommLink, painful screams could be heard, as the pilots were being dissolved from the inside out, while their tanks turned back to Omega's and opened fire. Luke had no choice but order a retreat.

No more than half of the original assault force returned to Omega's HQ that night.
