Addons-9000 downloads in one night???? Site hacked????

Dear admins-that is impossible. My map Starscavs had yesterday about 500 downloads. Now it shows me 9210. Whats happend ? The other downloads are ok.

No, that's not how it really works. Most effective thing to do for urgent issues is: (1) PM the Staff account; (2) Try to find somebody in the IRC dev channel. Also note that if you post things in the pre-moderated "Website feedback" forum, your message is guaranteed to be seen by forum moderators (before even appearing); but there's no guarantee that they are also in charge of the addons; and also a simple addons moderator (like me) cannot help with this issue.

Anyway, i already pinged wherever i could.

Why does this stuff keep occurring? I saw a page about this site being hacked before, although the guy got caught.

How can it be minimized? from my understanding preventing dos, ddos is not simple.

We could sorta stop the downloads, if we required a login, but, not sure we want to go that drastic yet.

Well,-most of the guests are only here to download maps. (so-i was for 1 year)
Every guest is a potential member in the future. I would be very sad. I create my maps not only for members. I am very happy to see, that some maps are downloaded 1000 times. Every time, when i look at the addons site i imagine, that some player in Vladivostok or in Alaska is just playing my map. Thats a great motivation for me.

I wouldn't be happy needing to login to download more maps. Unless we included alot more within the default ( I think is required )

Then again I'd prefer to actually be able to get them without worrying "oh no the site is down I'll have to wait".

Until yet i found about 20 "suspect" buisiness and commercial sites between the member list. And i am on site 9 of 270. Maybe someone should use the deity cheat.......
