My take away are the last 2 lines of the article:
...Hinduja sees the problem getting worse before it gets better. That's because he believes society is entering a new internet age, one that doesn't bring with it the decorum and manners formed over thousands of years of civilization.
I too, donot see the pendulum swinging back in the opposite direction any time soon, if ever in my lifetime.
And I too have witnessed this sea change up close. A seismic shift over the last decade, especially, from the pre-millenial net which I now look upon as a Golden Age in this regard along with the intimately related power dynamics also pointed out in the article.
The positively effective, inspireing, & non-abusive, excercise of power does not come natural; cannot be magically self appointed or purchased at any price.
The annonimity of this medium enables the craven, the crass, the power inept, and the entire spectrum of abusers, way above thier natural station in the ecology of RL where such deficiences are exposed quicker, and directly attributable to a non-obfuscated identity, who is immediately held to account, one way or another, with no where to run and hide from the consequences of abuse; or just plainly not cutting the mustard in effective communication & respectful leadership.
And, it is also obvious to me that had this current, ill mannered culture of abuse predominated earlier this whole thing here would not exist because the WZ source would absolutely have never been liberated.
