[Crash]Campain after finding and researching the "Mortar":

Post by LostHero »

I just started a 2.2.1 campain without mods.
Everything went good, but after i found the artefact which unlocks the mortar technology, i researched the mortar weaponturret and after the research was done,
i clicked on the "world map icon" (playing the german version so i don't know the english name, sorry).

In the following menu i clicked on the mortar weapon technology in order to read what it is good for.
A few milliseconds after i clicked that icon, the game crashed back to desktop.

strerr.txt, stdout.txt and the crashdump can be found in the zip file attatched to this post.

Win XP SP3 32Bit
ATI HD4850
AMD Athlon X2 6400+

Okay looks like there is a general problem with the researches, got another crash. This time after clicking (in the same menu) on the first wheel upgrade (half chains?).

Crashdump is useless; no call stack. stderr has no trace of the error.

Note quite true.

This is a video driver crash.
and it ends here.

Why isn't it true? Crashdumps are usually useless and have no call stacks and don't write to stderr in the case of a video driver crash.

It just that we know that his crashes are caused by a kernel level exception, so that is either audio or video driver.

So in this case, the crashdump is showing us that it crashed in some driver. That is why it isn't really useless. The normal advice at this point would be to use newer or older video drivers.
and it ends here.
