legal site for last official release

Post by medusa »

is there a legal site for the last official release of this game?
I know it was 1.10 but you need a crack program to disable the protection.
I thought that they would release a version without the protection?

No need to get it like that.
You know about the 1.10 balance mod?

Most of the big bittorrent sites have versions up of the original 1.10 that are legal and do not need any cracks. Check their description. I do not know of any other places.

I believe you can compile the game from original source, and it should be all you need.
They didn't have any (copy) protection routines in the source.

Saberuneko's point is that you can in effect play the original Pumpkin game on the latest releases by using the 1.10 mod. The original game will not look good or play very well on modern computers.

whoever told you that was talking through their hat. the original warzone 2100 was actually worse for cheating.. just ask cowboy... he went to the trouble of making an anticheat thingy... but then he stopped working on it and entered the apps market ans is doing quite well... just a fyi.

Wz 1.10 doesn't have any solid anti-cheat code. It just does a simple step to verify that all players are playing with the same game data (and calls those who arent cheaters :D). Packets can still easily be altered on the fly, although with an already unstable network scheme, certain kinds of cheating is likely to further destabilize the net play.

The only so-called copy protection is that WZ requires the CD to be in the drive to play.
