Widescreen?

I recently got a Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW. It's recommended resolution is 1680x1050. Unfortunately, Warzone doesn't appear to support this resolution.

I've tried forcing it to run by adding "-1680" to the end of my shortcut's Target line, but that only made it launch in 640x480.

So, is there any way to force it to run in 1680x1050?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Going by the subforum you're using version 1.x, which doesn't support widescreen (and only a few 4:3) resolutions iirc.

Your assumption is correct. I'm using 1.10.

Aww... :(

Earlier, I opened WZ's .EXE with Notepad++ and searched for "800". It took me straight to WZ's launch options themselves. It had -640, -800, -960, -1024, -1152, and -1280, and that's it. Looks as though Warzone relies entirely on launch options to determine its resolution, and it cannot and will not run in widescreen.

For anyone who's interested, here are the launch options I found in the EXE:

Code: Select all

+hostname
+maxplayers
+ip
+name
+connect
+host
-disableLobby
-seqSkip
-seqSmall
-2meg
-greyFog
-noFog
-noAdditive
-noTranslucent
-1280
-1152
-1024
-960
-800
-640
-datapath
-savegame
-game
-title
-REF
-RGB
-MMX
-D3D
-3DFX
-software
-intro
-window

Thank you for this incredibly useful reply.

That's a good question, though. I think I'll eventually try the 2.x versions, but I'm neither in a hurry nor excited about them.

I like 1.10. It's a good version, and it still looks and plays like the original. The 2.x versions just look a bit too different for my taste. They just don't have the same atmosphere that the original versions have.

For the record, I still have an original WZ 2100 box, Prima's Official Strategy Guide, and the disk case, complete with three disks: Disk one, disk two, and the demo disk. I've also first played Warzone when I was about seven years old or so.
