Multiplayer release master-20110320 is now released!

The Warzone 2100 Project staff bring you a new alpha build, master-20110320

This release brought to you by: The dawn of Qt

We are always looking for new developers! Since the next release is likely to be Qt only, we have a urgent need for mac developers that can fix Qt issues that we currently have, as specified in #1549
We could also use more windows & linux developers as well.
If you know anyone who would like to join the project, send them this way.

This build features the new netcode that everyone has been waiting for.
We eagerly await feedback for this alpha build!

NOTE: command line options now require a "=" before the parameter.
For example, --configdir=./blah

NOTE: For mac users: Support for 10.4 has been discontinued; using 10.6 is highly recommended as 10.5 does not support a sufficiently high OpenGL version for all types of GFX cards.
NOTE, don't forget to change the texture size (default is 256) via in-game menu, and the fpslimit (default was 30) via edit config file

Main changes:
  • Stuff changed. (More specifically, the stuff-like stuff with stuffy stuffiness has changed.)
  • Bugs fixed.
  • Droids don't drive straight through all non-host-allied buildings other than gates. (D'oh.)
  • Enemy tanks aren't magically visible on in-game alliances menu.
  • More informative ally research.
Known bugs:
This release hopefully contains no bugs, except that trap cursor and Alt+Enter probably aren't working in the Qt version.

If you have problems with being kicked or with kicking everyone for "incompatible mods", deleting some maps (for example 8c-early3v3V3.wz) might help.

Please submit all bugs via this link, and follow the directions listed at the link, we need every bit of that information in order to fix bugs!

It should also now be possible to use directories containing non-ascii characters on Windows (e.g. config, data directories).

Well, I don't know if it's a bug or not, but when you select your unities and what you do : Ctrl+0 or Ctrl+5 etc, it doesn't work. Tell me if you have the same and I'll specified that on the link when we are doing to do.

there is some changes with font in game(qt), seens like it has been chaged or something ?

It seems to be a thiner font, all around. On top of that it's condensed in the chat window... I prefer the previous.

The new cursors are rather informative, though.

I downloaded it and it runs fine for me.... the ticket says it does not work on mac at all.

I run two screens and it displays incorrectly in full screen mode, posted a ticket.

ok installed the QT version, could not get into lobby. checked router ports, cleared it through my firewalls and it still failed with an extremly laggy performance whilst it kept trying.

i then installed SDL version and it worked perfectly.

what files e.t.c do you need from me as it isnt really a crash.

I have a problem with chat text, it appears as white blocks instead of text. This is an in game shot:

and this is in pre game screen, notice that in the chat window all the white bars are supposed to be lines of text ... :shock:

BTW: I am using the qt version ...
and have version 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu5.1 of Qt development libraries installed!!! :wink:

It should probably said more loudly that the Qt source requires Qt development libraries for compiling, and that fancy linux commands like [debian/ubuntu]'s "apt-get build-dep warzone2100" aren't enough anymore.

Aww, I've made so many decisions over the eons by seeing enemy tanks on intelligence. <:^( Ah well. BTW, Borgs still show.

I obviously missed something... what's the difference between the SDL and Qt versions? Sorry if it's been answered before.
