Can you replace the theme in Warzone 2100 3.0?
Such as transparent, robotic-style, or like that?

Saved skirmish scores resets to zero for all players when you load back your game. And not just scores, even the kill counter.

This has been the case for quite some time now, at least as long as the last year.

Strange, never noticed it in 2.3.5 or earlier versions. :?

3.0 versions are running really slowly for me, sometimes even crashing (just becoming so slow that they are stopped, or keep on pausing for little bits). Maybe could there be a release without the new textures, or for the game to be made to run more efficiently? With 2.2 Ghz and 2G RAM, I don't think I'm running a hugely slow computer and so can't be the only one missing out.
Full of ideas - Most are probably useless. Feel free to ignore them :)

Has anyone that was having trouble with getting autokicked or autokicking others for cheating in this version tried setting their color to Green in the main options before hosting/joining a game? Works for me.
This is why some features aren't implemented: http://forums.wz2100.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=7490&view=unread#p87241

Replace space after "--mod_mp" with "=" in the shortcut target. This will be corrected in next beta: see above p1...

Something else...

Playing full game (for first time in a while, so many new versions to check out) in 3b3 DyDo. 4c game, Rift Valley, not too big. After 4 hours only one AI left, but the game lags like hell. It's not a big game, not a particularly busy game, and yet it is a real pain to play.

I've remarked before elsewhere that it seems strange that a ten year old game with a 200Mb- install should be so demanding on a medium power lap. Is it the graphics? They are nice, but in design terms, at least, there was nothing wrong with the original tiles.

Its looks as though some kind of limit is being reached here. Nice to have the latest graphics etc, but if it means that WZ can be played only on hi-end machines, then we are disappearing up our geeky fundaments. As said before, this is not a school project for aspiring IT specialists to practice their newly learned skills.

Or is it? Maybe its time for players like me to get off and be content with the last playable version of WZ. I don't mind that. It's the game that counts, pure and simple. I don't give a tit for cool code or graphics. What has been done for the preservation of WZ to date is simply magnificient, and I am grateful - as obviously many others are - that people who could do the work gave their time and skills gratis to do it.

PS - Just in case this should come up: my argument against needing hi perf machines to play WZ has nothing to do with whether such a machine is afforable or not. It is simply that there is too little screen information to need anything more than - say - the 1440 x 900 I have on my lap. I can play it at 1920x1200 on my PC, but it there is no immersion.

W0000t? (:
This might have been a reason for both problems with overpowered scavengers and recently-overpowered machinegun branch (:
Or had it been broken recently?

upd: Ouch, guys, that makes a LOT of sense!!!111oneoneone.
I'd have to learn how to play again o.O o.O o.O
And my precious movie makes no sense now ... I couldn't repeat this victory in less than 35 minutes with beta3  Those MGs are really weak now (:
Wow has armor been broken this whole time!?!
that means everything will need to be re-balanced!

Maybe we should just set everything back to the original stats and start over. I suspect Pumpkin spent more than a little time play-testing the game.

Not really. Pumpkin spent very little time play-testing patches and least of all v.1.10. Indeed WZ v.1.10 "balance" was one of the principal reasons MP effectively died less than a year after retail release.

So armor has been broken for the 1.5 years Zarel spent on re-balancing ? Or can the break be pin-pointed in a lessor time frame ?

cybersphinx wrote:Well, the last round of rebalancing was done with broken armor (broken in 2.3.2, rebalancing in 2.3.5, fixed after 2.3.5), so some of the changes might not be so great now...

Interesting, thanks. Always nice to know the history.

I find software archeology fascinating, especially in the context of "how did we get to *this* point?". It is often a touchy subject, though, since "this point" usually represents some FUBARed state.

what some see as FUBARed . others see only as a normal day in the life of WarZone 2100. you could also say SNAFU, but that would only be redundant.
