I think I started it because they was somebody complaining about Changelogs. I was just pointing out that I was just happy to have somebody still keeping the game alive.Rman Virgil wrote:.
April 10, 1999 sounds about right for when the game was first put on the store shelves for sale in San Fran, USA and I was johnny-on-the-spot to buy it at Electronic Boutique that day (Sept. 1999 is only right for the release of Patch v.1.08). While I still have those original disks and all the files Pumpkin sent me with electronic dates, I do not have my store receipt... but of course my saying all of that could not be expected to qualify as an independently verifiable, & primary, "reliable source".
However, the Internet Archive called Wayback Machine has some of the web pages from Pumpkin Studios' Official Warzone 2100 Retail Release Game Web site hosted by MPlayer (& moderated by them & Pumpkin Developers) from April 1999 and one of the pages archived is a duplication of the Retail Release README file with the following:
You can see those archived pages from April 1999 here:Warzone 2100

You can also always email http://www.eidosinteractive.co.uk and request the company's exact release date in April 1999. Also - there are still available on-line Eidos financial statements from Q1 1999 that mention WZ 2100's release in Q2 1999 - publically traded companies have to publish those earning statements.
BTW - I don't really understand how or why this subject came up here.
- Synergistically, Rman.
