then i would suggest moving the alliance, visibility, starting bases, and other similar options to another "tabbed" page -- that would give more than enough room.Buginator wrote:Yup... but we are still starved for space.winsrp wrote:cant you just make a tooltip text pop up each time you put your mouse on an icon?

good way to confuse enemies... see the smoke not the bullets... lol. that's an engine limitation at least since the last time i checked -- since a turret can only have one 'logical' (as far as the game is concerned) muzzle, then the engine only generates one smoke trail -- the two projectiles/missi...

Re: number of vtol prop types in wz
i would agree with NucNut, except that VTOL does not refer to a vehicle type so much as a vehicle characteristic -- helicopters are vtol, and you could go so far as to say your 3 year old nephew is vtol according to the strict definition of terms, though you do only ever hear it used in the context ...

Re: cannot connect to host with a mod
well mp.wz is just the standard mp stuff -- you'd need to add another --mod switch for the realistic killer mod, based on what it's named. based on what you have, it's odd that they don't work, since mp.wz is well supported

"premature optimization is the root of all evil". it sounds like it won't change the widget code that much to switch from one to the other, and if that's true, just go with the simpler one, and see how it does.

traditionally, any kind of artillery shell hitting the top of a tank was considered catastrophic. i don't know if that's still the case though. one of the main threats of artillery to tanks was that a nearby shell would hit ground under the tank, and the kinetic energy would flip it over, or take o...

Re: Overlapping polys -> import script erroror bad model?
it's the model. the original pumpkin artists were using an imperfect 3ds max exporter that really botched certain kinds of things up, and besides that, it seems that some of the artists were working with the assumption that the pie format would have the same vertex precision as 3ds, so some models ...

It is also non-scaleable, irrespective of your resolution be it 640x480 or 1600x1200, the UI is always the same size. a scalable ui is a great thing to have, but at the same time, the scaling should be user adjustable -- often it is desired that the ui take up as little of the screen as possible. s...

heh... C probably may well have less documentation... but then again, you can actually remember the entire C language spec at once. C++ is something of a monster, imo, and in many ways, even when i didn't know what C was like, when learning C++ i tended to drift towards the simpler C syntax (i even ...

We use TCP which guarantees that all packets will arrive and arrive in order. Therefore any problems with the netcode are not due to packet loss. i'm not so sure the protocol guarantees in-order receipt of the packets -- it gives each packet an ISN, but afaik, it's up to the client to order them be...

Re: VTOLS, away missions, and "---BETA: EVACUATE!---"
The micromanagement of using supplies for both armor and fuel will always exist, but it can be minimized (btw, fuel use isn't too applicable for least ground units, since they may never run out in even a 4 hour game unless we nerf their fuel tanks just for the effect). I think the best way is to hav...

arent the vtols slow to produce as side effect of high cost? and the bombers... pointless things, if they manage to get past aa by means of going in reverse for extra speed, either the bunker buster or TK/scourge does the job better anyway, and with fewer losses not necessarily. high production tim...

the damage system is a little antiquated now, yeah. but the average processor may not be up to the point of being able to handle the next step up in this engine (or perhaps any other). indeed, many tanks have fallen at the hands of anti-air cannons, which, when used correctly, are merciless weapons ...
