Add a ½ second delay before the quit (and continue) button(s) appear, so people don't click and then have the quit (or continue) button(s) suddenly appear under the mouse click?

Are you logged in as root? You need to be root to write to the /opt/ directory. To log in as root, type "su". (I haven't ever tried "make install" myself, so I don't know whether anything else could be the problem.) Note that after "make", you can run the game by typing "src/warzone2100", without do...

The deterministic branch is master, maybe that will become 3.1.

neither of those work. There is an icon up in the right corner that has a bunch of z"s on it with a 0 displayed next to it (like indicating the game is sleeping, maybe waiting for something?)
