Re: stuck in alpha_11

Generally, if you head directly north from your LZ with a sensor, youll note a formation of tanks moving east. This is the group you need to stop.. From there, its up to you to figure out what needs to be done :p

Re: WZ 2100 port to Space Empires 5

Ahh the problem is that you were referring to actual development in the space empires 5 engine.. I was thinking mere modding would be simply enough. Ill grant you that maintaining a engine is more reliable than a mod, merely because an engine can be changed.. a mod can only fake changes in the engin...

Re: WZ 2100 port to Space Empires 5

really? LICENSING is your main problem? what about like the SPACE part of SE5? Theres generally no reason to port warzone to se5 because...... ah hell - warzone is land units... space empires is in space! But i mean, It might be cool if se4 has the pretense of space ignored, and the tactical combat ...

Re: Total realism mod

*nods* spring has considerably more options available for modders; I believe there is even a ww2 mod that is somewhat popular. Spring can more easily include inertia effects and special damages than spring can it seems, but is less versatile; each unit typically has its set of weapons defined by the...

Re: Hovertanks

For smaller weaponry I would agree with you. Nothing much to worry about. I was going for larger cannons. The way you describe the counterweights makes sense except for one thing. Which way do they move? (I never seen em in action) Counter movement on the X,Y and Z axis would be needed. physics wou...

Re: Hovertanks

moving counterweights.. dunno the proper term for those, i just mean that for each time a cannon is fired, a pneumatic ram pushes a weight in the opposite direction (obviously not out of the chassis) but this should help reduce recoil, moreso for cannons than rapidfire stuff... but does a machinegun...

Re: Hovertanks

unless a similar cannon was shot directly opposing the first cannon!
(no but really, counterweights or similar can be used to mitigate the issue?)

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

o.0 current population of the us is barely over 300m, according to the recent census. and im fairly sure in any all-out-war regarding mutually assured destruction in the world today, we would lose considerably more than that.. Seeing as we have a ton of nukes sitting around... and im not really sure...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

uh well. the US has somewhere around 300m people for the moment? even in around 100 years, if population doubled... well, its generally not going to be 700m anytime soon o.0

Anyway, id project the population to be around 50m ... conservatively.

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

well thats the thing - we dont particularly know what survived the war. Generally, you will find people in one of two places - pre-apocalypse cities, or places untouched by missiles.. generally isolated areas (mountain ranges make semi-good shields for nuclear radiation, for instance). I somehow dou...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

story in such an 'open world' is kinda hard - For most rpg games of the sort usually a story is loosely enforced, which is both good for gameplay and slightly harmful to the story.. I could see a small campaign story being overlapped over it somehow.. Kind of like how in fallout 3 you could finish t...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

id agree that you would virtually be required to research some main things in order to /get to/ the boss, but never to /defeat/ the boss.. for instance, the three provinces directly next to the 'boss' base might include the heavy cannon, the lancer, and the bombard as tech rewards.. sure, getting al...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

well generally, the idea is that you cant bring in 50 tanks every 2 minutes, just one group of tanks.. Ideally i just want the player to have a choice. Preparation is key to victory, but a good AI will also realize your moving in tons of artillery and move to intercept (most players would, im thinki...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

well i was hoping for something similar, maybe divisions between t1 and t2 like the current divisions in the campaign.. My issue would be that the division would have to somehow involve gifting the player all t1 tech they might need to research stuff into the next tech level (like if they pushed str...
