Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Something I find amusing about the WZ Railgun; is that despite being called a 'railgun', it's clearly a coilgun. Yeah, at least for the heavy versions, "gauss cannon" and "mass driver" are more correct since they refer to coil-based designs. Of course, an actual railgun barrel l...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I did some work on the railgun. Since the curves are trickier on this one than other models, I tried an alternative modeling approach where I make a decal tileset with all the features I want to add, and then project the decal strips onto the hipoly mesh using the shrinkwrap modifier. Edit: I want t...

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
Keep up the good work man  I also found the scav structures to perhaps be a bit more work than other stuff. The amount of detail is just higher overall. I think the trick is to make a bunch of elements that can be reused multiple times, and make the damage/rust as much procedural as possible. ...

Thanks MaNGusT, those cliffs look absolutely beautiful
Did some more work, here are two frame-to-frame comparisons. Still need to add trucks.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Hi guys
I had a bit of free time to polish my blender skills, so I decided to see if I can revisit the cutscenes using existing models. I also updated the briefing video to render nicely on blender 3.0, and added in some details, so it closely matches the original.

Yes! Fake geometry!

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
Good stuff MaNGusT, really captures the old galvanized steel plate look. Are the textures unique for each building, or will you be making "trim sheets" to allow more reuse of textures between models, now that we have tangent space maps?

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Hello all After some discussion with pastdue I started toying with the idea of having a simplified mesh as shadow caster. Here are some tests with the HQ model. The full model is 2000 triangles. I set up a scene in blender so that one model is visible but doesn't cast shadows, while the other is an ...

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
I have always assumed it's a wrecked panther body. Could be cobra as well. Crane model looks good, but all the cranes I have seen actually have the swivel joint at the top, close to the cabin https://i.pinimg.com/736x/a7/93/bd/a793bdbdf40cd204609bd66fa8269c06.jpg The original model is obviously simp...

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
Very good progress MaNGusT :) Regarding the different textures in different tilesets, adding more masks will increase the GPU memory requirements of course, and could also limit the kind of things you could do. Creating three separate sets of textures has no impact on performance and it's the easies...

Re: Just a question cause I don't know
Sounds to me like microsoft is just intentionally clogging up their own phones so that people will change them as fast as possible. That way they can end their support faster now that they are no longer making windows phones.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I've been thinking about animating the propulsion models, but first I had to make consistent specularity maps for them. Made painted surfaces and tires semigloss, bare metal and scratches glossy, and crevices and dirt matte. I'm thinking about reusing some of the textures across models, especially w...
