Re: Brazilian portuguese translation

I've already done most of the translation. You should download the latest trunk :)

Also a LOT of strings have changed so it's no use continuing working on your old .po files.

Re: What OS do you run ?

I don't want to risk going off-topic but I feel you should know I (and a lot of other people) have only discovered Warzone2100 due to it being one of the best games open-source games currently available for linux. It's a huge source of free advertising in that regard ;)

Re: New sounds

It's hard to find military GPL sounds. I have no idea what you would actually hear when a mortar flies by but the current one sounds so fake it's annoying :p

Re: New sounds

Here's a sample of my new Howitzer flyby. It's rather bothersome to redo some sounds as sometimes they have nothing to do with reality. For instance, the dual mg sounds like bursts but it's just 2 bullets firing at the same time in-game. What should I do about it? :| I'm basically editing GPL sounds...

New sounds

Anyone interested in some? I've found a really NICE open-source alternative for the howitzer fly-by sound. In case anyone is interested I'll start finding alternatives for most sounds I've found lacking.

Re: Possible multi turret solution

The only modern weapons that use twin and quad turrets are ballistic AA guns and battleships. The reason for this is that these vehicles either have to engage really large targets (other battleships, land bombardment) or put a lot of bullets ASAP into a small really fast target (bullet dispersal is...

Re: Possible multi turret solution

well i played this game when the old multiple turret solution was in place, which was latter removed... i thought this was not actually bad, but it only had the problem that most of the time a turret will turn so much that it will render inside of the body of the other turret, so why not have turre...

Re: Mini-pods that can attack VTOLs?

Huey's getting caught in RPG-fire in the Vietnam-era. That was a clear example. Some German 88 mm guns were dual purpose. They were excellent anti-tank weapons and excellent FLAK units. Ask Rommel. But those 88'guns shot plains down 4-5 km high, which in the warzone-game is quiet unfeasable. Later ...

Re: Mini-pods that can attack VTOLs?

No no no, not mini-pods. Mgs, lancers and all other rapid rof/seeking weapons should have a limited ability to engage vtols. Key work being LIMITED, we don't want to make AA and VTOLs completely useless. Edit: Also, I've never heard of unguided rockets being used to shoot down aircraft. Not even rel...

Re: Strange sound problems (stuttering)

On suse, I found both openal and openal-soft via the package manager. You will need to install both the openal and the openal-dev (or -devel) package. The development part contains the headers you will need to compile WZ. For just running the game, you only need the openal package which contains th...

Re: Music Problems.

Can we have dynamically loaded playlists? I might code it myself if anyone wants it :) What I mean is, just place music in a Music folder and it gets autoloaded and played like the rest of the tracks. I think having music mods is a bit too complicated for such a trivial change. Another idea (since I...

Re: Strange sound problems (stuttering)

Can someone do me a favor and try to find out where ALchar is defined? I can't bloody find it :|

EDIT: HOLY CRAP I DID IT, I had to manualy install the latest OpenAl soft unfortunately.

Do you happen to have a guide to try out the original OpenAL? I couldn't figure it out by myself...

Re: Strange sound problems (stuttering)

Curiously I thought of doing that a while ago, had some problems so I completely removed it and now I can't compile warzone because pDeviceNames isn't declared.
