Ok, I think that it is a good trade off. In the end, performing or not the improvement of the command turret is the choice of the player.

I think that you neglect other things when speaking about «survivability»: 1- in your example, if a unit (or group of unit) is able to destroy two commanders MK1 it still can destroy 1 MK4. For me the Command Turret is the most important technology as it avoid micro-management. To my mind, the commander turret is really too expensive, and its use does not justify its price except for the MK1. Just take a look at the HP of turret MK4, they are multiplied by less than 2 while its cost is...

Ok.
Thank you for the explanation. I'm probably not a good player since I don't really understand how not to use them :)
But actually, I rarelly play multiplayers games but in skirmish, I'm used to have 3-4 commanders.
Well, I guess I will make a mod for myself.

The command-turret MK1 cost is 500 under version 2.2.0, closing then reopening the design screen should make it display the correct power cost and bodypoints of any command unit's. Actually, I do not want anybody to correct this issue, I just want to know if somebody else has the same issue. Or, if I am the only one who pays 500$ for a commander, while it was inexpensive in the previous version.
I am actually looking at the code. It is interesting, but a bit huge :-S .

Well it looks like nobody uses commanders.
Anyway, I also see this problem with the trunk version of wz2100.

In fact, this problem is more complicated. When I design a new unit with a command-turret, the price of the command-turret is 1 and it has almost no HP.
