Re: Random maps

Wha ! Somebody did this already ? Gosh I would love to play with it on Win. From everything I've seen & read "Diorama" is a gem. I'm just stuck on WIn. Well, with the code and all dependencies all in the open, released under the GPL2 and GPL3; there is nothing to stop you from playing around with i...

Re: Random maps

Another problem with integrating it into wz is that creating a map can take quite a bit of time, so it may be overly disruptive to the overall look-and-feel, which is quite snappy. Porting away from Python (which would be mental in terms of effort required and code to produce) would not make it much...

Re: Random maps

This generator should be implemented into wz. Not a bad idea. Too bad it is written in python, has tons of dependencies, and its author has not been heard from in several months :( Hi! I've been pointed at this as I've been somewhat out of the loop :) Its wonderful to see people actually using it a...

Re: Announcements: Diorama 1.1.1 and a simple AI mod

Hello, still massively out of the loop due to other commitments, but I will return eventually I promise! The editor itself would be close to what you describe - you can describe areas and the generator will lay out the terrain for you. So you can say "I'll have a cliff here" and "A patch of dirt her...

Re: Announcements: Diorama 1.1.1 and a simple AI mod

Sorry - been out of the loop for a while... Can't wait for Panorama. I've started preliminary work on that now. Still gathering ideas/requirements and working out a good concept for an editor that does not devolve into placing each tile separately. And now with less seams :) Excellent - the next rel...

Re: Announcement: Random map generator version 1.1.0

Florian, I was testing this generator on Debian, and after changing some values, I hit 'Bake!' and just how long should it sit their baking? I see in the console window, clasp: solution with Optimization: 0 44 7 19 19, a multicolored numeric display, and then clasp:done. ASP return code: 10, but th...

Re: Announcement: Random map generator version 1.1.0

Could this or something like this, in the long term, be rolled in to the main code base and not just as a tool? In theory it should be reasonably easy to modify the gui to execute the non-interactive version of diorama (makemap.py), but it works really quite well as a standalone tool. That said I a...

Re: Announcement: Random map generator version 1.1.0

Neat. Does it utilize the greater flexibility of terrain in trunk? (Not sure if that is even possible without improving the map savegame format, though.) Yes it does - it can draw a transition from any tile to any other tile now and in less space. It also means that lakes will always border directl...

Re: Announcement: Random map generator version 1.0.1

Could you compile this, so we can use this? I do not have or have access to the following proprietary platforms: MS Windows, OS X I believe EvilGuru is prodding a windows package, and I am getting somebody else to give me OSX compilation instructions. If you're on Debian or Ubuntu, the instructions...

Re: Announcement: Random map generator version 1.0.1

Can you tell me which platform you're on? The manual http://warzone2100.org.uk/manual.html does have detailed instructions for Debian/Lenny. I am in the process of getting instructions (and possibly binaries) from somebody who has MacOS. I'm not sure where to start getting instructions or binaries f...

Announcement: Random map generator version 1.0.1

Hello all, just uploaded version 1.0.1 of Diorama. http://warzone2100.org.uk Changelog for 1.0.1 Rewritten the route() function in Cython and C. This particular part of the map generation should now be up to 100+ times faster. On my crappy laptop a default random map now takes less than 10 seconds t...

Nitpick :)
