Re: Accuracy straw poll
@zydonk - Your post above is completely out of line. I do not want to see one other post like this from you. Consider yourself warned. Pardon? I simply wanted to know who Staff was complaining about. No answer so far. Do you also agree with SW slagging off Iluvalar? And you will see posts like this...

Re: Accuracy straw poll
We would like to remind everyone to be civil toward each other. :annoyed: There is no point in yelling at each other if you don't have solid code to backup your arguments. If you want 1.x/2.x style quasi-random "solutions", then you don't belong here, muddying up the waters. Thought at fi...

Re: To Addon or not to Addon?
I was also alsked to ask around if those two maps vary enough to be posted in addons separately. One is called FierceSqr the other TacticalSQR. Find differences in one minute ;) Vote to decide :3 I personally think opening edges vary it enormously. But it is you to decide. warzone2100 2012-06-22 11...

Re: The Doc's Bio Lab for Scav Experiments - & other odditie
@Zydonk, if I understand your sentiment correctly, would you agree that this is a good meme for capitalism...? "Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell" It seems cancers grow forever if let - a perfect example of the principle of vegetative growth that capitalism ...

Re: The Doc's Bio Lab for Scav Experiments - & other odditie
There should be a distinction between "money" as unit of exchange and "capital" as the source of "profit". Even Karl never got that. You would always need a medium of exchange and perhaps a unit of "value" - to monitor depreciation in use-value, of the instru...

Re: The Doc's Bio Lab for Scav Experiments - & other odditie
I have not yet come up with a compelling story idea for how to dramatize living within a Project society that is structured along a moneyless economy and is not seeking empire. To answer that question, perhaps it would be best to 1st analyze WHY we need a concept such as money in the 1st place. Per...

. I'm starting to feel I should attempt a straight up, hardcore doctrine based, military fiction. One werein the centerpiece would be a coordinated, multi-vector, velocity, asymmetric battle sequence of scenes that specifically highlights all this integrated command technology of expanded situation...

@NoQ: incidentally, the flaring in the s'shots comes mostly from cannon shell impact, not flamers. The AIs use HPV for derrick defence.

Re: WZ Screenshots!
How about a little action? Flamers at that phase of the game? but why so empty? Early morning  troman remodded aivoltion for the v2.n release so that both Dragons and Gauss cannon can appear within an hour of gameplay. Not all of the AIs follow this through, though, hence the by then ...

Re: Should campaign be improved?
A general point. Both HalfLife and Stalker - to name two other truly canonical games - have been completely refurbished by dedicated fans while leaving the original gameplay intact. This was done out of respect for these games, as a recognition of their original worth. There have been two streams in...

Re: Improving the campaign - Alpha 1
Given the kind of "improvements" that have already been inflicted on the original WZ, can you not this time accept the principle that changes to the game - in this case the campaign - be offered as mods? The problem with changing the game itself - as we have seen in ample detail - is tryin...

Re: v 3.1 - Easy game ...NOT
The early missions of the campaign function as tutorials. That's not uncommon. WZ was never meant to be an easy game, though - believe it or not - it's a lot easier now than it used to be.

Re: *Brogrammers* or "The Ugly Underbelly of Coder Culture."
I would describe coding as exacting - like knitting (get a purl wrong and the garment is ruined) - which would be stressful if you were not a perfectionist. Two experiences of coding. (1) Writing a prog to map fractals on a Sharp EL-9300 (32k of RAM). That's why I know coding is exacting, but more c...
