Re: How can I insert scavengers into my level?

Yes you do need a script. The process is somewhat intricate and tedious since the maps aren't self-contained as they are in 90% of other games out there. I would recommend looking at Cam1a.wrf and all the files associated with it to get an idea of what is required to get a fully working campaign ma...

Re: New features?

. Features, unless very, very, carefully used, still present, unfortunately, potentially major entanglements to flowing PF and the Skirmish A.I. combat group deployments (heck, even trucks can be waylaid in their mission)..... Don't get me wrong, I love map features, would love to see new art for th...

Re: *Biomimetics* - Mother Nature Inspires Military Tech Design

. Ok... let's put this topic in a context that is both pragmatic, integrated into a whole and expansive. The following is a treasure trove for altering WZ GPMs in ways that broaden and deepen martial strategy possibilities and winning tactical opportunities (fun & balanced, to be sure) well beyo...

*Biomimetics* - Mother Nature Inspires Military Tech Design

. I find endless inspiration in nature for all sorts of creative, active, passions. Nothing new there as this has been going on for millenia with our species. Here I propose gathering instances that inspire war machine design now and could inform possible futures like that created in the fictional w...

Re: some graphic remake(updated jan-14)

Well, that's sad... I can't explain why, but it's plain and truly sad to me :-S I think that I'll really get out of here permanently, I've got utterly disappointed because I'm feeling... Ah, quotes! I am sorry to leave behind so many unfinished works and dreams, but my hopes were dying quite some t...

Re: some graphic remake(updated jan-14)

If you are careful enough, you can achieve better results, because you can modify a single layer at any given time! It requires a great sensitivity to identify which layer needs to be improved, though, but there's always the option of creating an additional layer to correct another one you couldn't...

Re: A Map Editor

. Tested. Though I need to spend a lot more time with it I can already tell where it is gonna be a vast improvement over the 3 versions of EW I've worked with over the last 10 years and logged thousands of hours on. Yes, there is room for improvement (that is simply par for the course for any creati...

The stuff about Myelin is interesting, I think that's why my mother always told me to keep drawing the ugly things when I was kid :stare: Yep. Mastery has been calculated at about 10,000 hours of "fiddling" or deep practice. Even Mozart composing at 5 fits. If those laws are on the good 1...

Re: some graphic remake(updated jan-14)

. @ Olrox: Wasn't referring to anyone or anyone's work in particular with your paraphrase of my comment - "illustrators with a mediocre, consensus, not vision, not true artists". Just a general aesthetic statement. (Actual: "right & proper are words better suited to illustrators w...

Re: How should I deal with bad suggestions?

. @ KenAlcock: Well stated & presented. This all works too. In billion dollar industry, mission-critical organizations and successful R & D in RL. At this point, what is no longer common knowledge is that the WZ community operated successfully under these precepts between 1999 and Q1 of 2005...

Re: some graphic remake(updated jan-14)

. @ Xenon: Your art work is totally Avant-garde . I like it very much. As you have already found out with responses to your Transport, many vocal mind-sets in this neighborhood have a rigid perspective of what is right and proper for WZ - frack that philistinism !, I say ("right & proper&qu...

Re: How should I deal with bad suggestions?

. My 2 cents - ~ I think a common thread for all of us here, in addition to the obvious interest in the game WZ 2100, is to learn and have fun at it. ~ Any communication that promotes or facilitates learning is to the good. ~ Language is a powerful force - for good or ill. Language use can promote l...

Re: Some criticism

. Yes, it has been on our goal for a very long time, and we have really sucked at making it happen. Not just because there were more fun things to do, but also because there many rather non-trivial problems in the way. I think the biggest issue right now is that nobody has taken up work on the map e...

Re: Some criticism

. Let me start off by saying I accept that the following interpretation could be off base. Zarel will likely speak to this. Maybe some other developers will share their POV on this as well. My previous posts in this thread have danced around what I'll now make explicit. Let me define a key term firs...
